On May 10, 2026, Budapest’s Szabadság Square came alive as the city gathered to celebrate the 22nd anniversary of Hungary’s accession to the European Union. The day-long event brought together people from all walks of life for a packed schedule of concerts, a public running race, and diverse family activities.
Representing the spirit of cooperation, the LibCommon project took part in the festivities within a shared activity space. The booth served as an interactive hub where visitors of all ages could explore the project’s mission through engaging educational materials. From themed crosswords that challenged the mind to commemorative stickers for the younger participants, the activities were designed to spark interest in LibCommon’s core pillars: civic engagement, participatory democracy, and open access to learning.
The event provided a meaningful platform to connect with citizens and discuss the shared values that define a common European future. We are grateful to everyone who visited us to learn more about our work in building stronger, more inclusive communities, and we look forward to continuing this journey together.
